LEWIS HYDE /// LECTURE POSTER

In the spring of 2009, author Lewis Hyde lectured at Brown University. The subject
of his lecture, Creativity and the Collective Self, inspired a collectively designed
poster to promote the event. Ten artists and designers from RISD submitted black
and white drawingsand patterns for perforated bookmarks that could be torn off the poster. The possibility of sharing the bookmarks created an opportunity for a gift economy to emerge, a topic present in Hyde’s book, The Gift: Imagination and the Erotic Life of Property.
